Wadi Rum Nabatean Camp

3-Day Jeep and Hiking Tour

Day 1:

In order to begin the jeep & hiking tour of the Wadi Rum, you must first go through the Visitor Centre, the gateway to the protected desert area. The Centre requires an admission fee (5 JD per person), but if you have a Jordan Pass admission is free. After the Visitor Centre, continue onward for about 6km to the Wadi Rum Village where I will greet you. From there, I will take you to the Wadi Rum Rest House for a cup of delicious Bedouin tea. We will chat with you about the day plans and outline them on a map. Once the tea is finished, we will set off into the desert.

Our first stop is Lawrence’s Spring, followed by Khazali canyon, where you can see some Nabatean and Thamudic inscriptions. After this the tour continues to the Red sand dunes, the Anfishiyyeh inscriptiones, and Lawrence’s house which features some beautiful landscapes and mushroom rocks.

After a traditional Bedouin desert lunch, the tour will proceed to an amazing sand stone arch known as Burdah rock bridge. Later in the afternoon, we will also visit the Abu Khashaba canyon and then the Um Fruth rock bridge. After watching an amazing sunset, we return to our Bedouin camp in the middle of the desert for a feast on ‘Zerb’ – a traditional Bedouin dish of meat and vegetables cooked underneath the desert’s sand, and a night in Wadi Rum, under the shining night sky. Please note, If you are vegetarian, vegan or have any other dietary requirements, we can still provide you with a delicious meal.

After dinner, we sit around a bonfire, converse, and drink tea. Our guides may perform for you with traditional Bedouin string instruments, the ‘ooud’ and ‘rababa.’ For your sleeping quarters you’ll be given a spacious Bedouin tent woven with black sheep hair all the necessary furnishings for a comfortable stay. All camps come equipped with clean bathrooms and kitchens where we prepare your meals.

Day 2:

After breakfast you will be taken by car again to the Burdah Rock Bridge. A Bedouin guide will lead you up the steep ascent to the top of bridge . Once at the top you are rewarded by rich panoramic views of Wadi Rum. When we get back down, we will find a spot with a nice view for some lunch. After lunch we will continue to the Abu Khashaba canyon. This is an excellent hike and you offers some great views and photo opportunities. We shall then return to the camp for another Bedouin night by the bonfire under the starry sky.

Day 3:

The day starts with a half-hour transfer southwards to Jebel Al Hash. Here, we start out hiking through an interesting rocky valley with scattered vegetation and over rocky slabs as our route winds and turns towards the plateau beneath the impressive bluff of this massive mountain. There, you will enjoy panoramic views extending across the desert landscape. We then descend westwards through another rocky valley. The walls of the valley feature unique marbled rock colors of brown and purple. Finally we reach a sandy Wadi and meet up with our guide for lunch. After lunch we will take you on a hike through the Am Ignoir Canyon. From there, you will hike back to the Rum Village, we can arrange transport for your next destination.

Please note that we can easily arrange any changes in the tour.
