Wadi Rum

LAWRENCE OF ARABIA

Rich in both beauty and history, Jordan’s famous Wadi rum has beckoned travelers for thousands of years. The wadi, unlike any other in Jordan, consists of a dark red sand floor from which burst huge, sheer and awe inspiring red sandstone mountains or “Jebels.” The desert’s natural beauty captivates visitors as they admire the amazing panoramic views and the amazing shades of red brown and purple that bounce off the colossal mountain’s under the hot desert sun.

Colonel Thomas E. Lawrence first made the Wadi Rum famous in his Second World War exploits. Later, the cinematic masterpiece “Lawrence of Arabia”  further placed our home onto the world stage. Since then, the Rum’s unique landscape has been the natural set for many other films, most recently, “Martian.”

The rum is host to a myriad a of world famous rock formations and the two highest mountains of Jordan, Jebel Umm Adaami and Jebel Rum. Other premier sights include the Burdah Rock Bridge, Lawrence’s house and the Barragh Canyon.

Our Bedouin guides, of the Zallabieh tribe, can lead you through the Rum with expertise and generational wisdom, as the Rum has been our homeland for hundreds of years. We offer a range of tours, including jeep, camel and hiking. All of our tours are flexible and if you wish, we can arrange a customized tour tailored to your wishes.
